The 7th Annual Bruce Bowyer Memorial Chess Tournaments
Were held at the Hotel New Yorker
8th Avenue and 34 Street, New York
on April 29 & 30th, 2006

Sponsored by our dear friends at the Royce Funds,
a wonderful time was had by all, both players and kibitzers.
Results and related information below provided by The Bruce Bowyer
Foundation
.

We had our largest turnout ever this year , with 68 players on
Saturday, and 50 for the Scholastic on Sunday.
This is only our 3rd year at the New Yorker, and was held a bit later
than usual, but this date worked our very well for us, so we will
probably schedule for the same timeframe next year.

This annual event in Bruce's honor continues to grow and is rapidly
becoming a favorite in the NY chess world. We did a survey again this year
to get some feedback from our players on what they did and didn¡¦t like
about our tournament, and how we might improve it. Take a look at some
of the replies, they are both interesting and funny:
ƒÞ most of the kids¡¦ favorite part of the tournament is the fact that
this is more fun than other tournaments, but especially the free pizza
for lunch on Sunday ļ
ƒÞ The adults appreciate both the low entry fee and the strong
competition, but the consensus overall is that this is truly the friendliest
chess tournament of the year.
